If you guys didn't already know this, spoiler alert Foolish Johns is a Polygamous marriage (Thanks Long John for that Confirmation) . How did these three fools meet? Well Big John (vocals/bass) practically stole Long John (guitar) from his old band he used to play “I was going to a lot of shows, I saw this punk band that had an amazing guitarist. He was the best player on that band. Saw him after the show and ever since we've been hanging out” says Big John. Big John and Little John (drums) have known each other for a very long time. Big John had no idea that little john could play the drums until one night at a party he started playing songs from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The beatles, etc.. “So one day we all started playing together and ever since it's been history”. Funny thing is all their names are John. So you'd imagine how confusing it would be if you heard someone calling out john but not knowing who they are trying to call. That's where the fans gave them the names Big John, Long John(p.s im just kidding your name isn't lame), and Little John.
Little john has been playing drums since the age of nine, it wasn't the first instrument he played it was actually the guitar. “I didn't like it, it was boring. It was not enough bang in it” says little john. Long john was influenced by friends who also played guitar. “It feels good to have music come out of you” Says Long John. Big John was influenced by a band named Bright Eyes. They wrote folk/indie music “It inspired me to do that on my own. First couple of songs i wrote meant a lot to me, it was fun and easy so I wanted to continue doing this” says big john. He was ten when he started off with music, first instrument he played was a saxophone and later moved up to a baritone sax. When asked what the meaning to their music is Long John responded with “We can play any song, any style, and any way, it would be more for me being with these two dudes. I wished people tried less to genrefy us and instead look at what's happening more between us, thats whats it mostly means to me”. They first started playing in bars to earn a little money, but as soon as they heard about shows they began throwing their own shows. “There's been a lot of nice bands that helped us play shows”. Youth Blender, Sadlocals club (<3), Mushroom Party (shout out to nova, ily) has helped them get big in scene.
Their favorite show they played at was the was the Tarantula EP release party. Right after this they went on tour. Touring had to be the best thing they've done, they had some crazy stories to share. Fourth of july they had a roman candle fight, it's basically trying to hit the other person with the firework and unlucky for big john he got hit the hip “It was crazy and fun, there was also a lot of blood”. When asked to describe each other first long john responded with “ big john is our song writer he writes most of the songs, Little john is our rock”. “The lead, definitely the sound that peeks out is long john. Big john is the bass the backbone, the beat, the one that keeps the drive going. Without these guys there's no Foolish Johns” says little john. Big john says “ I think these guys are super talented”.
